R Jean Banister Prize lecture, Mary Pickford lecture + Alison Douglas prize giving As the week of 18-22 November has been designated “Physiology Week”, the R Jean Banister Lecture has been combined with the annual Mary Pickford Lecture to make for an afternoon symposium.The Physiological Society’s R Jean Banister Prize Lecture awardee for 2024 is Dr Andrew Lin from the University of Sheffield and his lecture topic is ‘Sparse coding for odour-specific memories through homeostatic plasticity’.This year’s Mary Pickford lecture lecture will be given by Prof Laura Bennet, University of Auckland, New Zealand and is entitled 'Hidden clocks: The importance of understanding time for diagnosis and treatment of fetal and neonatal brain injury'.The Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences awards an annual prize, in memory of late colleague, Prof Alison Douglas, for the best PhD thesis submitted in the previous year and they will announce the winner at this event.
