GBA1 Parkinson's Research Catalyst Programme

Parkinson's UK are joining forces with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF), Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s Initiative (ASAP), Parkinson Canada and McGill University, through the G-Can initiative, funded by The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation, to advance the biological understanding of GBA1-associated Parkinson’s (GBA1-PD).

  • Up to $300,000

The GBA1-PD Research Catalyst Programme seeks to build a deeper understanding of GBA1-associated Parkinson’s by maximizing the value of shared datasets and research assets. Funding will support hypothesis-driven projects with an emphasis on integrative, cross-cohort analyses and the systematic characterisation and standardisation of models to enable broad use by the research community.

PRUK strongly recommend that UK-based investigators who are seeking funding for GBA1-based projects apply in this funding round. Projects focused on GBA1 will not be eligible for the 2027 Parkinson’s UK project grant round.
