Congratulations to Professor Gillian Mead (Geriatric Medicine and Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences) on being awarded the prestigeous Lady Illingworth Trust Award from Tenovus Scotland for her work on post-stroke rehabilitation. The Lady Illingworth Trust Award, which is only bestowed every 5 years, is to recognise an outstanding contribution to the understanding of the disabilities which affect elderly people within the British Isles. Gillian has pioneered physical fitness training for stroke survivors, working with exercise professionals to develop pathways into community exercise. She has also undertaken considerable research into post-stroke fatigue, showing definitively that anti-depressant therapy is not helpful for this symptom. More recently she has developed interests in palliative care following stroke and has a world-wide reputation in this field.Tenovus Scotland National Awards webpageProfessor Gillian Mead's profile page Tags 2021 Publication date 03 Mar, 2021
