Current research interests

The main goal of my research is trying to understand computational mechanisms of learning, memory and decision making as well as how various modulatory factors such as risk, novelty, stress, motivation, sleep and future discounting affect them.

In particular, we employ reinforcement learning, drift diffusion and motivation models and focus on the role of schemas in these processes, which we address using human experiments and modelling. We have developed ecologically valid human tasks that integrate schema-based learning and decision making as well as MyNewsScan news aggregator platform for digital phenotyping and testing our laboratory-based findings in larger real life samples and more interactive settings.

Finally, we also work on large-scale analysis of fMRI data and individual prediction of various emotional and memory phenotypes using multi-voxel pattern analysis as well as on gaming, AI dependency and related disorders (in collaboration with HealthyGaming company).

Research in a nutshell

We study schema-based learning & decision making in ecologically valid settings (e.g. our MyNewsScan platform) using behaviour, biometrics, neuroimaging & computational modelling. We examine how modulatory factors (e.g. risk, novelty, motivation) shape these processes, and in cooperation with HealthyGaming also investigate gaming, AI dependency and related disorders.
