Current research interests

My research is focused on the development and evaluation of advanced MR imaging techniques and their application in psychiatric and neurological illness.

Disease areas:

  • Cerebral small vessel disease
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Pre-term birth

Techniques:

  • Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging of the brain
  • Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) for probing the blood-brain barrier
  • Proton and multinuclear MR spectroscopy
  • Advanced MR phantom development
  • MR cerebrovascular reactivity imaging
  • MR imaging of fluid flow
  • MR relaxometry
  • Magnetisation transfer

Research in a nutshell

I develop and evaluate quantitative medical imaging methods, and use these to investigate pathophysiology and to evaluate potential treatments of neurological and psychiatric illnesses.
